I'd love to have Mark come sing at our church.

"I'd love to have Mark come sing at our church." Folks tell us that all the time.  It's easier than you might think to have Mark come share his songs with your church.  Just call The Harper Agency at (615) 851-4500, or visit their website at www.harperagency.com.

For years, the folks at The Harper Agency have coordinated the scheduling for groups like The Cathedrals, The Bishops, The Speers, The Booth Brothers, Brian Free & Assurance, and many others you'd recognize.

They are a blessing to their artists, and they really understand the unique situations of each individual church.  Pastors and music ministers all over the country have been extremely satisfied when working with The Harper Agency, and their congregations have really enjoyed Mark's music.

So, if you've been thinking about having Mark at your church, contact the Harper Agency today.  You'll be glad you did.

Mean, Mean People

No, Mark's not talking about his neighbors, the Perkins's.  Or at least we don't think he is...

"Mean, Mean People" is actually the title of Mark's latest radio song.  It's got a different title, but it's a catchy song that dispenses some sound advice on how to deal with those folks that we all know and have to deal with.  You know, those ones that never seem to be happy unless they are making others just as miserable as they always seem to be?  Well, as Christians, we have the responsibility to love one another, including "Mean, Mean People," and this song addresses that very subject.  If you've not heard it yet, call your local station and request it.  This tune will get stuck  in your head, and hopefully, the message will get stuck in your heart.

March 2008
It is still very cold here in east-central Kentucky. Most of you will be reading this in late February and into March so you may still be in the middle of cold weather too. Unless of course, you happen to be some of our good friends from Florida or some other southern climate. We see you smiling. Don't rub it in. More

Recordings & Radio Promotions - CrossRoads Music/Sonlite Records

Mark Bishop records exclusively for Sonlite Records, part of  Crossroads Entertainment & Marketing.  Crossroads is also home to many of the top artists in Southern Gospel Music today including The Inspirations, The McKameys, The Kingdom Heirs, Poet Voices, The Talley Trio, Ivan Parker, The Kingsmen, and others.

The 2000 musical marriage of Mark Bishop and Crossroads music has been bountiful, to say the least, yielding eight Top Ten songs, including two Number One songs from the 2004 recording, Can I Pray For You.  Much of this success is due to the Mark's co-producer Jeff Collins, and the promotional work of Jim Stover.

"I just feel at home with the folks at Crossroads," explains Mark.  "Chris White and Mickey Gamble have been so supportive and encouraging to me, my family, and this ministry.  I know that they believe in me and the songs, and they prove that by giving me the artistic freedom to create this music.  Greg Bentley, Scott Wagner, and entire team work very hard to make sure that the music is promoted so that we can share the message and the music with as many people as possible.  I am blessed and honored to be part of this team."

Management Consultant - Crown Communications & Management

With over 20 years in Gospel Music, Steve Perkins knows his stuff.  Most of you may remember him for his tenure as Bass Guitarist for The Bishops back in the 1990's.  But that's only one facet of Steve's career stops in Southern Gospel Music.

Prior to his stint as our bass player and part-time Front Porch singer, Steve was recognized and well known as one of the best Southern Gospel Radio programmers and announcers in America.  He was nominated several times for Singing News Fan Awards  for his radio work, but, as Steve puts it, "I was always up against some guy named Heil from Pennsylvania who has a syndicated radio program."

Steve also spent some time working for "some songwriter from Indiana" (another Steve quote), named Bill Gaither.  Steve's job was quality control at a record/cassette plant that Mr. Gaither owned at the time.  In addition to this, Steve has worked as a studio musician and in marketing and promotion for record companies and the healthcare industry.  Obviously, we were thrilled to have someone of his caliber with us on the road.

Even more so, I am thrilled to have Steve with me for this phase of my life.  He was the first one that offered to "do anything I can" (another Steve quote) to help me get going as a soloist.  He's kept his word, and we've had a good time.  Although Steve has some serious health issues that can limit his ability at times, his influence and fingerprints can be found on just about every aspect of this ministry, "except the songwriting.  Mark won't accept my offer to help him with his songs." (another Steve quote)

Website Design - Brandon Jones

Before Mark Bishop ever stepped out on a stage for the first time as a soloist in January 2002, markbishopmusic.com was up and running.

The man responsible for this stopping off point on the world wide web is Brandon Jones.  The Bishops first crossed paths with Brandon and his family several years ago.  It didn't take long before a kindred spirit was recognized and strong friendship formed.  Since that time, Brandon and his family have never hesitated to help at concerts, our Homecoming event, and most of all, keeping us online.

Although we may be in Kentucky and Brandon and his lovely wife Amanda (Yes, he actually talked her into becoming his bride...) are in Texas, Brandon is a vital part of this team and lends his technical expertise, solid advice, and wise counsel whenever needed.  But most of all, he and his family are dear friends, and as vital as he is to our e-commerce and web-based whatever's, it's the friendship that matters most.

Brandon's always open to your ideas and suggestions for the website.  And trust me, he is the one to handle it.  If you email me, I won't have a clue what you're talking about!  So, feel free to email Brandon. Click here to see more photos from the wedding!
