I'll Be A Witness

Oh I want to be a witness (for my Lord)
Oh I want to be a witness (for my Lord)
Tell me who'll be a witness (for my Lord)
Well I'll be a witness (for my Lord)
And I'll be a witness (for my Lord)
And I'm another witness (for my Lord)

I remember one day upon the deep
Upon the ship fell fast asleep
The winds did blow, it tossed about
It caused the sailors to tremble with doubt.
They woke my Savior from His sleep.
He calmed the seas upon the deep.

Wasn't that a mighty witness (for my Lord)
Wasn't that a mighty witness (for my Lord)
Oh I want to be a witness (for my Lord)
Tell me who'll be a witness (for my Lord)
Well I'll be a witness (for my Lord)
And I'll be a witness (for my Lord)
And I'm another witness (for my Lord)

You read about Sampson from his birth
Strongest man upon the earth
You read on down that in time
He killed three thousand Philistines
Sampson lived and wondered about
They tell me his strength was never found out

Wasn't Sampson a witness (for my Lord)
Wasn't Sampson a witness (for my Lord)
Oh I want to be a witness (for my Lord)
Tell me who'll be a witness (for my Lord)
Well I'll be a witness (for my Lord)
And I'll be a witness (for my Lord)
And I'm another witness (for my Lord)

His wife Delilah talked so fair
That Sampson told her to cut his hair.
Shave my head and cleanse your hands
And the strengths gonna come like a natural man.

Wasn't Sampson a witness (for my Lord)
Wasn't Sampson a witness (for my Lord)
Oh I want to be a witness (for my Lord)
Tell me who'll be a witness (for my Lord)
Well I'll be a witness (for my Lord)
And I'll be a witness (for my Lord)
And I'm another witness (for my Lord)

You read about Methuselah from the date of his birth.
You find he was the oldest man on earth.
He lived nine hundred and sixty-nine.
He died and went to Heaven in his time.

Wasn't that another witness (for my Lord)
It was a mighty fine witness (for my Lord)
Oh I want to be a witness (for my Lord)
Tell me who'll be a witness (for my Lord)
Well I'll be a witness (for my Lord)
And I'll be a witness (for my Lord)
And I'm another witness (for my Lord)

A Rose Among The Thorns

While strolling through the fields of time there's many things to see.
But nature is the greatest site that there could ever be.
The greatest of them all to me is how the world was formed.
And why the roses have to live, each day among the thorns.

Repeat Chorus

One day among a world of thorns a Rose began to grow.
It was the greatest gift of God this world will ever know.
It was the will of God to show that since the world was formed
There had to be a Rose to live and die among the thorns.

Two thousand years will soon be gone since God looked down in love.
There in the town of Bethlehem a Rose began to bud.
It lived to bloom until one day was crushed with awful frown.
And then in love from God above
Was moved to higher ground.

Repeat Chorus

There had to be a Rose to live and die among the thorns.

Hiding Like Elijah

Once Elijah being tempted by Jehovah's foes
Fled for refuge to the mountains when a storm arose
There he found a safe pavilion where he could reside
I am hiding (like Elijah) from the storm outside.

Chorus
I am hiding like Elijah in the rifted stone.
And sometimes I feel just like him that I can't go on.
Then a voice from Heaven whispers in the rock abide.
I am hiding (like Elijah) from the storm outside.

When the clouds of sorrow gather like raging storm
And the way is dark before me, I shall fear no harm
I am trusting in my Savior what so ere betide
I am hiding (like Elijah) from the storm outside

Repeat Chorus

There are many other Christians in this world today
I can feel the spirit moving when I hear them pray
And it gives me consolation when my soul is tried
I am hiding like Elijah from the storm outside.

Repeat Chorus

I am hiding (like Elijah) from the storm outside.

River Of Jordan

To the River of Jordan our Savior went one day
And we're told that John the Baptist met Him there.
When John Baptist Jesus in Jordan's rushing water
The mighty power of God filled the air

Chorus
I'm on my way (to the River of Jordan)
Gonna wade right in (to the rushing water)
I'm going down (going down) to the River of Jordan
And let the cool water cleanse my soul.

Oh the River of Jordan is many miles away
And this mighty river I may never see.
But I'll find myself and altar at an old fashioned church
And my River of Jordan that will be.

Repeat Chorus

What The Bible Says

Oh now listen to this story, 'fore you lay your head to rest.
I know this here story's true, 'cause it's what the Bible says.
Child it's what the Bible says.

There's a baby born of a virgin, Mary
In a town called Bethlehem.
And the stars moved round in Heaven
Till they stopped right over Him.
They stopped right over Him.

Oh a young man went into the temple
Where the teachers gathered round.
They ain't never heard such wisdom that they couldn't figure out.
That they couldn't figure out.

Well John baptized in the River Jordan
But he said this here's a man.
That old John ain't fit to baptize cause He's greater than I am.
Child He's greater than I am.

They say He has great compassion.
He healed the sick and blind.
He made a lame man walk and turned the water into wine.
Turned the water in to wine.

They took Him down to Pilot's hall.
Child they mocked Him all day long.
Old Pilot washed his hands and said
This man ain't done no wrong.
No He aint done nothin' wrong.

They hung Him on a wooden cross
A bleedin' and alone.
His body bruised and battered but His spirit up and gone.
Child His spirit up and gone.

They laid Him in a borrowed tomb
With soldiers at the door.
Angels rolled the stone away sayin' "He ain't here no more."
Sayin' "He ain't here no more."

Oh now listen to this story
'fore you lay your head to rest.
I know this here story's true
'cause it's what the Bible says.
Child it's what the Bible says.

Climbing Up The Mountain

Chorus
I'm climbing up the mountain children (children)
I didn't come here to stay (now brother)
If I never no more see you I'll meet you at the coming day.

Some say give me silver.
Some say give me gold.
I say give me Jesus
He's precious to my soul.
Great God I'm...

Repeat Chorus

Some people call me noisy.
I belong to a noisy crew
Shout when I get happy
Like what Christians do.
Great God I'm...

Repeat Chorus

I started out for Heaven,
To Zion's land I'm bound
With Jesus as my captain, Lord
I will not turn around.
Great God I'm...

Repeat Chorus

I heard a mighty rumbling.
It was way down in the ground.
It must have been the Devil Lord,
He was turning round and round.
Great God I'm...

Repeat Chorus

If I never no more see you, I'll meet you at the coming day.

Because I done done my duty. Got on my travelin' shoes."

In A Land Where No Cabins Fall

As my mind wanders back
To the quaint little shack
Where in childhood I used to play.
There with mother and dad
We were happy and glad
As we'd while the sweet moments away.
We would all kneel in prayer
And in reverence there
We would praise the redeemer above.
Now in silence I pine
For that old home of mine
And I long for that mother's love

Chorus
I'd like to go back
To the dear little tumbled down shack
Yes I'd like to spend a day
Where in childhood I used to play
But time won't turn back
We must travel till Jesus shall call
Then we'll be happy and free
In a land where no cabin's fall

Let me linger today where I once used to play
Round the little log cabin home
Oh how sweet it would be
My dear mother to see and with playmates once more there to roam
How we'd play o'er the hill by the old water mill
And we'd rest 'neath the moss covered vine.
T'would be rapture complete if I once more could meet
with that mother and dad of mine.

Repeat Chorus
